About Techno

Techno runs on repetition. A straight kick, a loop that barely changes for minutes, and yet something is always moving. Good DJs turn that into hours where you lose track of time.

How it feels depends on the direction. Hypnotic and dub techno are deep and calm, more fog than strobe. Melodic Techno goes for pads and big moments and hits hardest under open sky. At the other end are Hard Techno and Schranz, fast, distorted and relentless. For a lot of younger ravers, that sound was the way into the clubs [CHECK]. Hardgroove sits in between, just as fast, but with funk in the loops instead of distortion. And when a 303 starts to squelch, you're listening to acid techno.
